Why founders check competitor stacks
A site’s tech choices are a compressed signal about team size, build philosophy, and infrastructure cost. Here’s what founders actually look for.
Benchmark your own stack decisions
When a fast-moving product is getting traction, founders want to know if they’re outbuilding you. Seeing Next.js + Vercel vs a bare Express server is a useful signal.
Estimate infrastructure costs
Cloudflare vs heavy AWS footprints often hints at burn rate and team size. Visible stack tools are a compressed spend signal.
Get stack inspiration for your own build
Successful products show what works at scale. Seeing three similar products share a payment stack removes decision paralysis.
Spot acquisition due diligence signals
A site still running legacy front-end patterns or missing basic analytics can suggest limited engineering investment.
How detection works
01
Fetch the page
We fetch the public HTML from the URL you provide — same as any visitor.
02
Read the signals
HTTP headers (Server, X-Powered-By, CF-Ray) and HTML patterns (script URLs, CSS classes, data attributes) reveal the stack.
03
Group and display
40+ technology fingerprints matched and grouped by category with confidence indicators.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out what a website is built with?
Paste any public URL above and hit Detect. LaunchZone fetches the page HTML and response headers, then matches them against a fingerprint list of frameworks, CSS, hosting, analytics, payments, and more.
Is this tech stack detector free?
Yes. Tech Stack Detector is a free LaunchZone maker tool — no account required.
How accurate is tech stack detection?
Detection is based on public HTML and HTTP headers only. High-confidence matches (Next.js __NEXT_DATA__, Cloudflare CF-Ray, Stripe.js) are reliable. Some stacks hide behind CDNs or custom builds and may not appear.
Can this detect if a site uses Next.js or React?
Yes. Next.js is detected via __NEXT_DATA__ and /_next/ assets. React alone is harder when bundled without obvious markers — Next.js / Remix take priority when both signals exist.
Can this detect Cloudflare or Vercel hosting?
Yes. Cloudflare usually exposes CF-Ray; Vercel exposes x-vercel-id / x-vercel-cache. Netlify, Fly.io, Railway, and common AWS CloudFront signals are also checked.
Why can’t you detect a site’s database?
Databases almost never leave public HTML or response-header fingerprints. We intentionally skip guessing — only public client-side and edge signals are reported.
